Located downtown in an architecturally-significant building, the Palm Springs Art Museum features compelling exhibitions and a robust permanent collection of modern, contemporary, Native American, Western and Mesoamerican and glass art in 28 spacious galleries and in its two outdoor sculpture gardens. The museum offers educational lectures, films and an assortment of programs and art workshops for all ages. The museum's Annenberg Theater features outstanding musical performances. The museum is open six days a week; Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Thursday from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. with free admission from 4 - 8 p.m. sponsored by the City of Palm Springs. Admission is free to members; youths 12 and under and active-duty military and their families. Regular admission is $12.50 for adults; $10.50 for seniors 62 and over; and $5 for adult students. About Us...
Our organization provides meals to the poor and homeless Monday-Friday at 1911 E. Baristo. We have a food distribution for the working poor Saturday mornings only. We provide social services and other services to our clients on a daily basis.
The Well in the Desert is pleased to announce a new program that it will launch on January 14, 2008. The program will be available to business people in Palm Springs and will help them with the problems of vagrancy, homelessness and panhandling.
A new program, entitled "Well Assist" will serve those who have homeless people disturbing their place of business. By calling numbers provided by the Well, a business owner will be able to have a staff person from the Well attempt to convince the homeless person to leave their establishment permanently and seek assistance from the Well.
The general public needs to understand that giving handouts to panhandlers is not giving a hand-up and is not the best way to help someone. As a team we hope to have the public assist by not offering handouts.
